5 Firestone Destination A/T
Wet, muddy roads your thing? Then you should head in direction of the Firestone Destinations A/T’s. Like any good all-terrain tire, the Destination A/T’s provide great comfort on the road, while tackling conditions off-road. Noise reduction was one of the main concerns of Firestone while engineering the Destination’s. Drivers using these tires support these claims along with experiencing long lasting durability and even in some cases, increased MPGs. While we can’t confirm any of these rave reviews as facts, we do know the Destination’s are great, basic all-terrain tires for most vehicles and drivers.
4 Falken WildPeak A/T
These are some great looking tires, but looks aren’t everything. First and foremost, the WildPeaks are actually very quiet on the road. Through loose sand and gravel, they also conquer and they grip insanely well on ice and snow too. The price for these tires is neither as high as some A/T tires nor is it as low as others. Another highlight of these Flakens is their durability and long lasting tread. Even after miles and miles of abuse, these tires seem to hold up. With the variety of sizes available, you should have no problem finding a size to replace your stock tires on your current truck/jeep. This is another great solid, all-purpose, balanced tire for a range of vehicles, terrains and driver types.
3 Yokohoma Geolander A/T-S
Drive a lot on loose gravel and dirt? The Yokohoma Geolander A/T-S’ provide great traction in this sort of terrain, while still giving a solid performance when it comes to snow and mud. Drivers find these tires provide decent on-road comfort and with their low cost the Geolander’s are a lot of bang for your buck. Overall, consumers and reviewers love the Geolander’s as a solid all-terrain tire that might not be as magic as the Cooper Discoverer’s but prove to be a good choice regardless.
2 Kuhmo Road Venture SAT KL61
The Kuhmo Road venture SAT K661’s are designed for on road comfort, while providing solid all-terrain control in wet, dry, and snowy conditions. The SAT KL61’s are great on icy road conditions though not as good in these conditions as the Cooper Discoverer A/T3. What puts these tires at number two on our list though is their extremely low cost. Consumers and tire tests show that the Road Ventures may wear a bit faster than other all-terrain tires, but a manufacturer warranty is included.
1 Cooper Discoverer A/T3
For those who hit a lot of stony gravel, the Discoverer A/T3’s have a knack for keeping stones out of the treads and expelling them with each rotation. Even though the Discoverer’s have been designed to be used on the road, when wet mud soaked conditions are faced, these tires cut through the elements and provided stable control in various off-road tests. With a great grip on muddy, rainy, even snowy and loose gravelly roads, the Discoverer’s give a great, comfortable ride on the pavement too. Throw in a 55k mile warranty by Cooper and you’ve got a great tire here.
You never know when you’re going to be taking your car off the pavement, so be prepared with one of these five tire choices.
